Firebox Review: Diabolical Nail Varnish
Today’s review comes in the form of this beautiful set of three polishes from Firebox.com.
Product: Diabolical Nail Varnish
These exquisite and rather quirky nail varnishes are inspired by Wes Andersons elegant stylised film “The Grand Budapest Hotel”. The hotel, in the mountainsides of Zubrowka was a popular destination for aristocratic ladies who sought out the “exceptional services” of its charming concierge.
In the 1930s, the Grand Budapest Hotel is a popular European ski resort, presided over by concierge Gustave H. (Ralph Fiennes). Zero, a junior lobby boy, becomes Gustave’s friend and protege. Gustave prides himself on providing first-class service to the hotel’s guests, including satisfying the sexual needs of the many elderly women who stay there. When one of Gustave’s lovers dies mysteriously, Gustave finds himself the recipient of a priceless painting and the chief suspect in her murder. – Wiki
The polishes come beautifully packaged within a neat cardboard box which in itself looks pretty on a shelf. On the side it even lists the polish names along with a colour indicator. Within the pack you get three 12ml bottles, each printed in the same style as the packaging and each with their own rather interesting name.
Here are the polishes themselves:
Dynamite In The Sack – Deep purple
Perfect for: Evening wear/dramatic looks.
Physically Repulsed – Nude pink
Perfect for: French manicure/wedding/elegants styles.
Enchanting Old Ruin – Mid grey
Perfect for: Day/evening wear.
The first layer of the polish went on smoothly with good coverage but took between 7-8 minutes to dry. The second coat provides the rest of the coverage and is all you will need, however, this coat took just under 15 minutes to dry! This takes the total application time up to roughly 20 minutes give or take.
This is such a quirky and unique gift for a polish lover in your life, especially with such nice packaging and those product names, I certainly don’t have anything similar in my collection. The selection of the colours is versatile and three bottles of polish for £12.99 is very reasonable.
My only gripe with these is the drying time which seems excessive, but who knows, maybe I got a bad batch!
So, if you’re on the lookout for some stylish nail polishes with slightly more unique names, these are certainly the ones for you!
I’ll be working on some manicures featuring all of these polishes in the coming days so watch out for those.
As always, thanks for reading and a big thank you to Firebox for sending these over for me to play with <3!Google+
